KAPONGA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) DEATH OF POPULAR, EiXRESIDENT. News of the death, in 'Wellington on Monday last, of Mr Harry Graham was received here with deep regret by a wide circle of residents. Mr Graham was for a number of years manager of the Dawson Falls and New Plymouth mountain houses, and made a host of friends. In 1915 he enlisted for war service, and on the conclusion of hostilities established himself in business as a baker in Patea, later transferring to Wellington. His demise at a comparatively early age comes as a surprise to his many friends in Taranaki, whose sympathy is extended to the sorrowing widow and son who are left to mourn the loss of a devoted husband and father. The interment took place at Wellington yesterday. , GENERAL. Favourable weather conditions following the sowing (Italian rye, sheep’s fescue and white clover) of Victoria Park has resulted in a splendid “take.” Careful attention from now on should result in a playing and _ sports area second to none in the district. Travelling through Okaiawa, Matapu and Kaponga at the present time, one is struck with the surpassing splendour of the pasture lands. The whole countryside in the districts named rarely, if ever, looked better, and gives promise of a very productive season.
