DEPUTATION TO MINISTERS. ti y CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. WELLINGTON, Nov. 6. A deputation waited on the Hon. W. Downie Stewart and the Hon. A. D. McLeod to protest against the oi>eratiens of the Proprietary Articles Trade Association, which they described- as the greatest combine in the history of this, country. They asked for a lull enquiry into its action in fixing the minimum price for household commodities. One speaker said that a similar position had arisen in Canada and va® dealt with by a special act, hut lie did not know if that had been effective. Mr. Downie Stewart, in reply. - c aiu he understood the association was getting wide support and before any” action could be taken, both sides must be heard. The problem was not a new one and justice must be done to the manufacturer, retailer and consumer. He would be gliad to go into the question and do his best- to secure a solution.
