HOTEL DESTROYED BY FIRE. (by TELEGKaPH- press association.) HOKITIKA, Nov. G. The Exchange Hotel at Blue Spur was completely destroyed by fire at. 8.30 o’clock last night. A heavy gale was blowing at the time. The occupants, Edward Sherriff and family, escaped what they stood up in. There was some difficulty in rescuing a young child. There were no Insurances on •the building, which was a twelveroomed structure. STAKE MONEY OVER-SUBSCRIBED WHANGAREI, Nov. G. The stake money for J. Mason, who is to row Hannan for the New Zealand sculling championship on November 27, has ben over-subscribed by the public, which is evidencing much interest in the contest. FIRE! AT BLENHEIM. BLENHEIM, Nov. 6. ; Early this morning a fire partially Jf' destroyed a five-roomed dwelling owned and occupied by C J. Smeaton, The insurances on the house were £4OO, and on the contents £2OO. DIED FROM WOUND IN THROAT. DUNEDIN, Nov. 6. William M. Beath (26), a single man, who was admitted to hospital on Thursday suffering from a wound in the throat, died last night. He was found lying on the floor of a back room at- his home with a razor by his side.
