The Railway Department has conclude cd negotiations for the purchase, of a fleet of live motor buses running on the road between Napier and Hastings in competition with the railways. .The department takes over from Wednes day next. Negotiations are also proceeding with a view to the purchase of the buses of another company running on the same route. The ideas of the department and the directors as to the value of the buses in this ease are rather widely separated, and in consequence the*latter are referring the matter to the shareholders.
