MOON PICTURES.
Mummie says what I see in the moon is a man, With sticks upon his back, His beard is long, and he’s bowed with age, (But his eyes are sharp and black.
But uncle says ’tis a maiden fair, Who was sent there long ago Because she was vain of her golden hair (While she lived on the earth below.
And John, my brother, who goes to school, 'Says the shadow is just a hill, And the moon was once a world like ours, ißut now it is cold and still.
-My daddy says that the moon's a cheese, And the shadow a tiny mouse. Eating away as fast as he can, Alaking himself a house.
But when I look at the moon’s white face, It is clear as clear can be That the man in the moon and his wife are there At the window having tea.
