JDROBABLY the largest single work of general information ever printed in any language, the new 13th. edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica is now being prepared.

Writers of international fame contribute to the 32 volumes—there are 17 Nobel prize winners among them — t

and women have at last come into their own in the new Britannica.

The Duchess of Atholl, Miss Margaret Bondlield, Miss Hdena Normanton and Dame Millicient Fawcett contribute subjects of particular interest to women, while Mile Lenglen writes on Lawn Tennis.

Trotsky has written the biography of Lenin, in which he includes a history of the rise of Bolshevism in Russia. The editor-in-chief, Mr J. L. Garvin, deals with Capitalism, Mr George Bernard Shaw with Socialism, M. Caillaux with World Recovery, and Colonel E. M. House with the Paris Peace Conference.

Besides three former Prime Ministers of England, Canada and France respcctivcly—Mr Ramsay MacDonald, Sir Robert Borden and M. Herriot—there is a long list of statesmen of internal’ tional reputation, including:— , Lord Cecil and Lord Haldane; the Rt. Hon. J: G. Coates, of New Zealand; President Mnsaryk, of Czechoslovakia; Count Botlilen, the Hungarian Premier; Dr. Stresemann; and five members of President Coolidge’s Cabinet.
