BOWLING.

SHIELD MATCHES. ELTHAM WINS FROM INGLEWOOD Four rinks from the Inglewood Rowling Club met a similar number of rinks from the Elthani Bowling Club on the local green on Thursday, the game being the first of the rounds for the shield. The local club won by a narrow margin of eight. The afternoon pro veil anything but pleasant from a point of view of the weather, the wind and dampness of the green militating somewhat against first-class play. The following are the results of the game, Inglewood players being mentioned first: Codd. Smith, Gernhoefer, Spurdle 19 v. Judd, Vincent, Stunners, Harrison 22/ . ... Johnston, Lindsay, Maetzig, Wilson 14 v. Clarke, Best, Clemow, McKay 27. Olson, Stephens, Limloek, Longbottoin 24 v. Fonntaine. McQueen, Rowe, Tiplady 21. Henty, Effort - , Mulholland. Whyte 21 v. Franks, Gower, Bnoflen, Astbury 16. Totals: Inglewood 78, Elthani 86. Argus.
