ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
LEVEL CROSSING ACCIDENT. (by TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.; TE AWAMUTU, Nov. 5. A motor delivery van, driven by William O’Brien, collided with a train at Alexandra street crossing last night. The crossing is particularly dangerous, as the view is obscured. The accident possessed somewhat extraordinary features. The train had only traveled a few .hundred yards from the station, but was gathering pace on the down grade. The engine had crossed the roadway when the motor van came right on, and collided with one of the carriages. The train was stopped before it cleared the crossing, but not before a heap of debris, the remnant of the van. was piled up on the roadside. The driver, who was the only occupant, had a miraculous escape. He was thrown clear, and suffered only minor cuts and bruises. A SOLICITOR FINED. AUCKLAND. Nov. 5. A. R. Gome, of Paeroa, a solicitor, was fined £5Q_ and costs £3 10s for failure to have his trust account audited for the year ended March 31 last. There was no suggestion of irregularities.
