Annual. Q RACING AT MELBOURNE. V TUT HD DAY OF V.R.C. MEETING. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. MELBOURNE, Nov. 4. For the third day of the V.R.C. meeting the attendance was large. There was a rainstorm after the second race and boisterous weather during the running of the Linlithgow’ Stakes. The storm aifected the going. Tantaroo was always prominent, and scored nicely in the Hurdles. He originally raced at Adelaide, and is trained by the New Zealander, D. Price. The tune was a record for the race. The Wensuin, after being third in the early part of the race for the Byron Moore Stakes, came through to win handsomely, finishing in the best of condition. The winner was bred in New Zealand, and cost the owner (Mr Barlow) 525 guineas as a yearling. Wensuin has now won twice. Valicare led to the turn in the Linlithgow Stakes, but ran wide at the straight entrance, and wag. beaten comfortably by the winner of the Cantata Stakes j Amounts, who got the best of the start. The winner is trained by Frank McGrath. The last half mile occupied 49-f Sec. The imported Star Dor, after lying sixth in the early portion, of the journey for the Carnival Stakes, finished fast and won easi'v. He is raced by Naos’s owner, Sol Green, and was ridden by the- Westralian, N. Percival. There was an exciting finish for the Oaks. Lanson came along well and scored by a narrow margin. Lanson cost 100 guineas as a yearling. This is Jockey Duncan’s first Oaks success. Lanson line now won four faces. Master Vibrator was lying third in the first nart of the Veteran Stakes race, but Jed into the straight and scored nicely. He is trained bv J- Holt for Heroic’s owner, C. _B. Kellow. Partita. after weighing out for the Oaks, reared and fel l in the mounting vard.' It is thought that he fractured his skull and was unable to start. The rider (G. Young) was unhurt.
