APACHE’S REVENGE.

DUEL INSTEAD OF MURDER. ' FIVE TEARS AFTER. PARIS, Oct. 22; A singular story of Apache treachery and vengeance ended at dawn yesterday in the Place de la Trinite in a revolver duel between two men, who, having spent the night in drinking together and exchanging memories, suddenly decided to settle an old difference. The story began five years ago, when Lueien Pelous, known as "Lulu du Faubourg,” having been sentenced to a term of imprisonment, decided to reveal to the police certain episodes in which he had been concerned with one Pierrot, another denizen of the Faubourg Montmartre. The result of his confidences was that Pierrot was arrested and sentenced to live years' imprisonment. Pierrot was released three days ago, anil, having bought a pair of revolvers, returned to his old haunts and sought out Pelous, with Wiiom he sat m various cafes drinking far into the night. At about !i a.m. Pierrot invited his companion to accompany him in a taxicab to the house of a mutual friend, where he said a breakfast awaited them. During the journey Pierrot suddenly stopped the taxicab driver and, under menace of a revolver, ordered him to drive off. At the same'time he informed Pelous that the time had come to account for one memory of which they had not so far spoken. "I could kill you.” ho said, "but I prefer to make it an honourable duel. Kero is a revolver like my own. March twenty paces and then turn and fire.” The instructions were duly obeyed, and after they had exchanged ten shots both men were picked up wounded, though not gravely. Now each refuses to lodge a complaint against the other, holding that their "duel a l’Americaine” has wiped out a score of fivs years’ standing.
