It is particularly gratifying (says the annual report of the Wellington. Land Agents and Auctioneers’ Association) to know that there is a good deal of activitiy in central business lots, shop property, and factory sites ; also areas of residential subdivisions have been fairly easily quitted at -remarkably good prices, but. owing to the shorten - ing of finance, business lias not been qinte so brisk in the sale of house property. especially in the matter of the old type of house. Purchasers offer deposits such as are not acceptable to the vendor in many cases. Good building sections are in splendid demand, and finances are fairly plentiful for the building of the modern bungalow and Elizabethan type of residence. The demand for houses is still very acute for renting purposes, and, in other words, is greater than the supply. Prospects for wool are much greater than was expected by all in the trade, and, with the near approach of the new selling season in the Dominion, growers.can at least hope for a high appreciation on the average rates of 1925-26 season. The butter market at the moment is obscure, but it seems quite evident that the prices obtained last season will not, ‘during the coming year, be available.
