MUSICAL AUDITORIES.

DIXON & CO.’S APPOINTMENTS. Messrs Dixon and Go. have recently installed two glass rooms of handsome appearance and great utility, to meet the growing needs of the music trade. Mr E. Dixon took the idea from one of the leading English houses, whose premises inside contain, a great number of these convenient appurtenances They facilitate conducting several demonstrations at the same time, without one instrument confusing the sound from another. The rooms are for all practical purposes sound proof. The walls are of plate glass, the sides being 9ft x 4ft and the ends 6ft x 4ft. The floor covering is of rubber. The fittings include: Electric light, with suitable shades, comfortable chairs, table, and gramophones, player pianos or radio sets as the ease may be. If business warrants it, Mr Dixon is prepared to go still further and provide accommodation in the front of his premises for all three forms of music to be demonstrated at once. At present he has two further demonstration rooms at the back of the warehouse. Messrs Duffill and Gibson were the architects, Messrs Hobbs and Baker the builders, and Mr E. A. Burge the electrician.

A representative of this paper inspected the improvement to fhe warehouse, and was given an opportunity of hearing records. One by .Chaliapin, made at Govent 'Garden in May of this year, and "(Miserere,” by Caruso, demonstrated the utility of the new installations.
