IN THREE YEARS.
AIR SERVICE TO LONDON. SIX DROPPING PLACES. MELBOURNE, Oct. 14. Addressing the annual conference of the Australian Women’s National League to-day, the president of the Victorian section of the Aero Club (Lieutenant-Colonel White), said it was almost certain that within the next five, or possibly three, years airships capable of carrying 120 passengers would maintain a regular service between London and Melbourne. The journey would take from 10 to 12 days. He understood that the fare would be no more than the steamship rate. The stopping places would probably be Cairo, Bagdad, Bombay, Colombo Fremantle and Melbourne. Airships would be used for long routes and aeioplanes for short ones. Aviation, he added, had developed so remarkably in the last 25 years, that it would be* difficult to forecast what great strides it would make in the next 25 years. It might pay doctors and dentists to visit outback settlers by aeroplane. :
