FIREWORKS DISPLAY.

GUY FAWKES COMPETITION'. Preparations for the fireworks display and Guy Fawkes competition on Friday evening are well advanced, and Mir. John Hopkins, representing the Wainoni Park Fireworks Company, is in town to-day on this business. Last year’s display was such a great success that little more requires to be said : beyond stating that Friday’s display will be equally good, if not superior. The boys have started sending in entries for the Guy Fawkes competition, and in this connection it is emphasised that entry is free and there are no locality restrictions—any boy from anywhere may take part’ in the competition, and it is hoped that some of the country lads will take part. No less than four bands will take part in the parade, viz., Hawera Municipal Band and Junior Band, Hawera Pipe Band, and Main School Band. The fire brigade will also take part. The display has been referred to as the Rotary Club display, and it is as well to make clear that, the part the RotaryClub has in the affair is to furnish the necessary guarantee to the Wainoni Park Company and to attend to the necessary business and other arrangements. The whole of the net proceeds will be- divided between the Hawera Municipal Band, the Girl Guides, and the Boy Scouts. . . «
