LIFT FATALITY.

THE CORONER’S FINDING. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 19. In returning his verdict in the lift accident inquest, the coroner said that it had struck him when he inspected the lift that it was rather open and unguarded. It was his own opinion that additional safeguards should be provided in lifts of a similar nature. He would therefore recommend that the department should insist on the installation of such gates as had been favoured by the inspector. His finding was that the two men were accidentally killed, through being pinned between the lift and the guarding crossbar while employed by Hislop Ltd.
