KIWI BEBEIvAH LODGE, No. 52. The official opening of the Kiwi Rebekah Lodge, No. 52, 1.0.0. F., N.Z-, was held in the Foresters’ Hall on October 5, there being about 150 members and candidates present, including visitors from Wellington, New Plymouth and intervening t-owns. The initiation team from Wanganui Rebekah Lodge consisted of Sister Connor, N.G. The assistants were Sister Toomath, V.G.; Sister Gregor, P.G.; Sister Howarth, chaplain; Sister Toomath, It.S.N.G.; Sister Warden, L.S.N.G.; Sister Lewis, R.S.V.G.; Sister Penrose, L.S.V.G.; Sister Rodger, warden; Sister Toomath, conductor; and Sisters Ellis and Foy, secretaries. These officers carried out their duties with credit to their lodge, the ceremony being performed without the aid of rituals.

After the initiation Bro. Smilie, Grand Warden of New Zealand, assisted by P.G. Bro. J. Mansell (Bulls), instituted the lodge, subsequently placing it in the hands of Bro. A. Robertson. D.D.G.M. The following officers were installed for the ensuing term: N.G., Sister E. M. Evans; -V.G., Sister Duke; recording secretary, Sister E. Dahl; financial secretary, Sister H. Squire; treasurer, Sister B. Cooper; R.S.N.G., Sister Lamb; R.S.V.G., Sister G. Evans; L.S.Y.G., Sister N. Keenan; conductor, Sister T. Renowden; warden, Sister E. Walker; 1.G., Sister G. Hovind; outer guard, Sister Allen; chaplain, Sister Storm; P.G., Sister Cooper. The Grand Warden congratulated the ladies on having the first ladies’ lodge of the order in Taranaki, and he hoped that the brothers of other Taranaki, lodges would follow Hawera’s lead. He> also impressed on the ladies that Kiwi was their lodge, to he wholly and solely managed by them, and he urged that they should try and double their present membership. After congratulations and fraternal greetings from the various lodges represented, supper was partaken of. Subsequently 50 couples passed the remainder of the evening dancing.
