To-morrow will see the opening of the championships at Wanganui, a meeting which has grown steadily in importance until now it is one of the leading golf events of the and attracts many of the bflFt players. Several Taranaki players, including members of Hawera, Eltham and New Plymouth clubs, will be competing. There will be a fine series of competitions, comprising, besides the championship, the Belmont handicap trophy —for the next sixteen to those qualifying in the championship, and giving a great opportunity for the medium handicap players —medal and bogey handicaps, teams' matches, four-ball handicap, and continuous putting. DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS,

COMPETITOES DBAWN.

POP QUALIFYING BOUNDS.

The list of competitors arranged by handicap for the Dominion championships was drawn up by the committee running the meeting at Miramar which will open on October 15. The number of low handicap players is so large that a ballot was necessary for those playing on a handicap of 8 who had nominated, to decide which of them were to be accepted.

There will be eighty competitors, which number includes nineteen professionals. Hawera, Eltham, Now Plymouth, and Wanganui players are well represented. The entry is interesting because it includes also „ five amateurs from Australia who rank among the best. They are Hector Morrison, Dr. P. Sydney Jones, J. N. Miller. N. S. Collie (all Australian golf club), W. Dobson (Concord Golf Club, N.S.W.). All five except Dobson will play in the amateur championship, and this will add much to the interest of the competition.
