The Sjwias Oivil ciode supercedes Mohammedan law to-day, through which no Turk, after midnight last night, may divorce has old wives and marry new ones. Divorces and marriages, even polygamous, under the old law are still valid, but the new code confers equal divorce rights and punishes bigamy. It also substitutes 18 for 14 as the woman’s marriageable age.
