HAWERA MUNICIPAL BAND.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. > The usual monthly meeting of the Citizens’ Committee of the Hawera Municipal Band- urns held last evening. In the -absence of the chairman. Air. E. Dixon, the chair was taken by Air E. Gould. There were also present: Afessrs W. Cook, E. Evans, J. Kilpatrick, Bell, H. C. A. Fox, J. Champion, C. Pearce, E. Frank and H. X. Lester. A motion of thanks was passed to Bandsman Croiicher for repairing the stands. It was resolved that local prices _be procured for re-striping and re-braiding uniforms. The matter was left- in- the hands of a sub-committee to report upon. A letter was received from the Brown Owl of the Hawera Brownies, forwarding 12s in pennies, as a donaton, to the contest funds. —The meeting resolved that a. letter of thanks he sent to the Brownies. Members commented upon the public spirit- their action showed.

The Hawera Amateur Athletic Club wrote asking if the band would be prepared to play at its forthcoming meetings on October 25, November 24, and February 2. —The matter was leftin the bands -of the- conductor. The monthly report of the bandmaster. Mr H. C. A. Fox, stated; that 15 parades were held' •in September. The public performances consisted of two concerts in the Opera House, a demonstration concert, and 1 the reception to Air Stan. Day. The average attendance at rehearsals was good. The junior band- was progressing favourably. Instruments could lie found for four learners. The music, from Messrs Boosoy and Co.. Dondon, eont i nnpd to arrive, and wa », of good qualitv. The Sunday evening concerts in- the On°ra House were well attended. but the collections' did not cover ovnen.ses, and the conductor suggested that- the concerts he discontinued.
