Though the season has not officially opened, sonic of:' the members of the local clubs have been playing for some days when the weather has been suitable. The greens are reported to be in good order and likely to be excellent by the time of opening. The prospects for the season are very good. PARK CLUB. At a meeting of the committee of t*ko Park Bowling Club, held on Friday night, matters concerning the .forthcoming season were dealt with. It was decided to officially open the green for playing on Wednesday, 20th insfc. Competitions for the season were allocated as follows: Championship singles, handicap singles, and handicap singles for B players. A progressive pairs tournament will be held on Labour Day (October 2o), play commencing at 9 a.m. Mr. W. Barnitt, formerly, of the New Plymouth Club, has been appointed' as caretaker. Satisfactory reports concerning the art union were received, and it is intended to proceed with the issue of tickets during the week.
