MELBOURNE WOOL- SALE.

BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. MELBOURNE, Sept. 28. The wool sales have opened. There is keen competition for all classes showing quality, including fine crossbreds and comebacks. The Continentals demand was exceptionally -strong, while Yorkshire and Japan operated freely. Prices ranged from par to- 5 per cent, above the closing rates at the previous -sale, and even relatively higher for broken pieces and bellies. FROZEN MEAT MARKET. The N.Z. Loan and 1 Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., reports having received* the following cablegram from its London house under date the 24tli instant: “New Zealand Frozen Meat. —Lamb, 9kl per !b. average. Mutton, 6Jd per lb for wether and maiden ewe, light; 52d for heavy; 4Jdi for ewe, -light; 3-Jd for heavy. Market slow.”
