DEMONSTRATION FARM.
STRATFORD SOCIETY. The regular monthly meeting of the executive committee of Stratford Demonstration Farm Society was held on Wednesday last, when there were present : Messrs J. W. Deem (chairman), J. B. Richards, W. H Were, K. Tarrant, and W. I. Grierson (farm manager). An apology was received on behalf of Mr. P. Morresey. The chairman reported that he had interviewed the Borough Council re water supply and right of way for transmission lines, and it was resolved that this matter be deferred. The manager’s report for the month ended September 8 was read and received-, and was as under- “Fifty cows are now in milk. Milk taken for July- amounted to 1140 lb, which with a. test of 4.S produced 53.72 lb butterfat. Milk taken for August for the first period was 2889 lb, test 4.4, second period 580 G lb, test 4.2, third period 10,581 lb, test 4.0, total butterfat being 794 lb. Cows are now being fed on mangolds, carrots, green oats and: grass liay. The last stack of hay was commenced yesterday.” Accounts amounting to £23 3s 8d were passed for payment. The committee afterwards visited the farm and decided on cropping arrangements for the ensuing season.
