The railways and tramways in the past financial year showed a deficit of £1,109,071. Increases in freight rates and fares are foreshadowed, the Commissioners stating that this is the only way of meeting the increased working costs caused by higher wages and the introduction of the 44-hours, weex.
OTTAWA, Sept. 20. The change in the Canadian Govern ment will be made this week, when the Meighen Cabinet meets for its final session before resigning as a result ol 'last week’s vote. Later in the week Mr. Mackenzie King will be called upon to form a Government It 18 suggested in some quarters that Mr. Meighen will resign the leadership or the Conservatives, but he has made no such statement. Pdssiby. after a conference Ministers may state their own future actions. If Mr. Mmghen retains the leadership a seat will be found for him before the opening of Parliament, which, it is predicted, uiU meet about the middle of November.
