WORKING EXPENSES INCREASED
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPY'RIGHT, SYDNEY, Sept. 21.
The Railways Commissioner in his report stated that the increased payments for salaries under the basicwage and various court awards, and the introduction of the forty-four hour week, represented a total increase during the year of £586,195. The railway net earnings, which slic/wed a return* on the capital invested of £4 6s per cent., had increased by £189,580, but the Avorking expenses had increased by £580,307, and the inteiest bv £452.881
