HOSPITAL BOARD.
YESTERDAY’S MEETING. . The monthly meeting of the Hawera Hospital Board was continued yesterday afternoon, when the business transacted included that referred to below. The Nurses’ and 'Midwives’ Registration Board forwarded a syllabus of training and instruction ini invalid cookery, to- be undergone by candidates for the State examination for nurses. ■Rather than use his casting, vote in the absence l of two members from the meeting, upon the question of where to dispose the insurance on the new hospital, the chairman ‘requested that the matter be. held over till the next meeting. The meeting fell into line with the suggestion. FRIENDLY SOCIETY ACCOUNTS. Under date of .September 2, the. secretary wrote to. the. 'Department of Health, .stating that its .scheme an connection with the payment of friendly society members accounts had now been
in operation for ab out- six months and appeared to- be woirking .satisfactorily. The Hawera. Board ’had made payments to several other hospital boards! for treatment of contributors, and several others' had agreed Vto make the Rawer a Board' a concession (averaging 33 per cent.) on 'account of .such payments. .Was the board in order in. entering into ararngeniemts with other boards for the payment of the. above fees; and is the agreement by. other boards to accept a. lesser amount than their ordinary fees front the Hawera; Board in order? The .reply of the Health Department was to -the effect that as far as could be seen nor question could, arise as to the arrangement .made, with _ other boards .on the lines set forth ill the preceding paragraph. The (Department. had nob obtained a Crown Lhw opinion on the matter, which was one for the board’s own solicitors. The officer-ill-charge of. the local bodies atudit concurred in this mew.
