The Go venior-Gtoiera.l and Lady Alice Fergusson arrived at Pictou this morning by the Ngaia. on their first official visit to Marlborough. A close holiday wa,s observed, and tlie town was beflaggeid for the occasion. The weather is beautiful. The Vice-Regal party was formally welcomed by the Mayor and the member for the district. The children of the Picton schools and the girl glides acted as a guard ot honour. There was a attendance of the public. After fimy RlS*sess of welcome and his Excellency s reply, a. round of festivities was commenced, which will end with a, citizens’ ball tonight. To-morrow the party will motor to Blenheim.
