The second' series of wool sales has commenced with the market- strong and prices fully equal to the closing rates of the previous series. All sections are active, and the market is buoyant throughout and good clearances were made. Greasy merino sold up to 26d. NORTH AMERICAN PRODUCTION: (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 20. The New Zealand Dairy Produce Board has received the following cable from the Montreal agent of the board dated September 18: Butter stocks, U.S.A.. 138,000,0001 b, last year 128,OOO.OOOIib. New York, 46 cents (Is lid); production 4 per cent less; consumption better than last year. Canadian stocks, 32,000,0001 b; last year, 20,000,0001 b. Montreal, 34 cents (Is sd): make falling off.

Cheese.—Montreal, 18 cents (9d); market strong.

DAIRY PRODUCE QUOTATIONS, WELLINGTON, Sept. 20.

The New Zealand Dairy Produce Board advises having received the following cable from the London office of the board dated September .18: Butter.—New Zealand salted 1645, exceptional 1665; Now Zealand unsalted, 168 s. Continental supplies shrinking. Irish.—Still fairly /plentiful, quality variable. Australian.—l6os to 1625; Canadian, 152 s to 1565; Argentine, 150 s to 1565; Dutch, 166 s to 170 s; Esthonian, .152 s to 1535; Latvian, 148 s to 1525; Siberian, 130 s to 1365; Danish, 184 s to 186 s; American market improving, now equal to 144 s to 1465, ex duty; Germany improving, but still fair quantities stored, butters of inferior quality; retail, unchanged. Cheese.—New r Zealand, white, 86s; coloured, 84s; market firmer. Canadian, white, 86s; coloured (September c.i.f.) quoted at 85s to 86s.
