Three English missionaries at- Wanhsien, held by the Chinese troops who occupied a China inland mission in Wanhsien and adopted a/ threatening attitude in view of the approach of the second naval expedition, three British Customs 'officers' and a British postmaster in Wia.nh.sien succeeded in escaping to lehang. The names of the, missionaries are not yet known as communication is cut off.
