Drenching rains which brought floods in many sections of the Middle West caused over 12,000,000 dollars worth of damage and resulted in the deaths of at least 20 persons. Kansas, and.' Illinois suffered most seriously, the damage in each being estimated at 5,000,000 dollars. Five fatalities occurred in each State and trains over the whole area, are delayed seven or eight hours, as many washouts have occurred. Considerable property damage is also 'reported from Missouri, - Nebraska, lowa, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Each of these States also suffered fatalities.
