Miss M. Cresswell, of South Africa, a recent visitor to New Zealand, where she stayed with her sister, Mrs. T. Wilson, of Ararata, was', during her subsequent visit to England, honoured by an invitation to a garden party given hy their Majesties the King and Queen at Buckingham Palace. At the Savoy last evening about 150 town and country friends gathered to welcome Mr. and Airs. C. Robb and family, who have recently returned from a trio abroad. During supper, supplied by Airs. Instone, Air. W. G. Simpson welcomed the travellers on behalf of the Scottish Society. Mr. J. Westaway. spoke on behalf of local friends, and Air. C. Hayton (New Plymouth) on behalf of the visitors. During the evening, cards,, dancing, and music provided plenty of amusement for the gathering. Alusical items were contributed by the Alisses Jenkins, Instone, Mrs Coleman, Alessrs Vinnioombe, N. Lester, W. G. Simpson, W. Strange, and the Barton brothers. The proceedings were of a very enjoyable nature.
