STOCK MARKETS.
FAT CATTLE STILL IN DEMAND,
EASING IN SHEEP VALUES,
Tlierc is not a great deal of change to record in the position of stock generally as compared with last week. Fat cattle are still pretty dear, but experience seems-to indicate that so soon as the pastures come away strongly, as they already show signs of doing, the price is likely to ease. The demand is mainly for local consumption, and at present there are not a great deal of fats offering. This has caused a sale for good store cattle by graziers whose pastures arc showing improved growth. A little warm weather will have a considerable effect on the position. Holders with plenty of grass are not anxious to quit except at very good figures. Sheep prices are unaltered at present, the general' feeling being one of waiting to see how the prices will range for lambs and for wool. Hoggets show a slight decline, but otherwise there is little change. But in the sheep, as in the cattle market, favourable pasture conditions will have a decided effect.
The demand continues for dairy cattle with good condition and quality, to supply the needs of dairy farmers who are still requiring good heifers to fill their herds. The horse fairs will be commencing soon, and it is expected that sales will be good for anything- that is of fail 1 quality, especially in draught and farm horses.
