KAPONGA CIVIC AFFAIRS
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Being a fairly large ratepayer to the Kaponga Town Board, and seeing they are having an election next week and Some new blood is coming for-
ward, I think it is only right we should hear what their policy is from the public platform, or that they should answer a few questions through your valuable paper before the election takes place, so that we ratepayers can choose the most suitable men for the position. My 'questions'are open to candidates who "wore members of the old board: —
(1) Are they in favour of carrying ■out the wish of the ratepayers in regards to the loan of £3OOO that was carried by a poll for footpath and channelling work some two or three years ago? (2) Are they in favour of extending the water main eastward? ' (3) Are they in favour of granting an increase of salary to the clerk, whereby ho can devote the whole of his time to board matters instead of having to take on outside work? (4) Are they in favoiir of a sevenman board, instead of a oneVman board •as at present constituted? (5) Are they in favour of granting a larger subsidy to the lire lighters of the town, or providing them with a fire engine?-"-! am, etc., RATEPAYER. Kaponga, September 10.
