After working for a year in the conntry Otto Schmidt, a deserter from the German .ship HI f red a, lias been ordered to be deported. He has been appearing in the Auckland l Police Court fairly regularly while the Minister has been considering his case and yesterday Mr. G. IST. iMioody, who appeared for Schmidt, saT? the Minister had advised that Schmidt could not remain in the country 7 . The magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, accordingly mare an order for his deportation.
