After years’ s'e.rvice the Wanganui Harbour Board’s quarry at Kniwhaike shows signs of giving out •within another rear. This will necessitate the board finding a new quarry. A visit of inspection made by members of the Hs* iWm* Board hist week revealed the fart that there were only about 10,000 ions of stood rack left, at the quarry. At least 6000 will he required in completing‘and strengthening the present hi ales at the harbour entrance. On the face of things, t-taa board wit' require to have ft regular supply of rock within the next ten months, and the chairman stated that lie had had an offer of stone from Kaipiti which could be landed at .Cp.stlbcliff at a price little in excess than the cost of quarrying at Kaiwliadke. A proposition had also been submitted from Kai Iwi, where far go quantities of stone were avaialhle, hut thw price, ino.hiding rihvay freight, was dearer than the Kaiwhaike stone.
