The Hawera and district vital statistics for the month, of August show a decline of both births and deaths, when compared with the figures for the corresponding month of last year. Marriages, on the! other hand, have soared., The total figures are as follow: —• 1926 1925 Births 44 58 Deaths 20 20 Marriages 14- 8 In the following details, for the purposes of comparison, the figures for the month of August, of 1925, are given in parenthesis: — Hawera, —-Births 21 (27), deaths 8 (15), marriages, 7 (3). .Manaia.—Births 3 (5), deaths 1 (1), marriages 0 (0). Gpunake.—Births 9 (9), deaths 1 marriages 1 (1). Kaponga.;—Births 4 (6), deaths 1 (1) marriages 3 (2). Baton,—Births, 1 (1)., deaths 4 (0), Eltharn.—-Births 6 (10), deaths 5 (2) marriages 2 (2).
