A Association message f ; n2;m Melbourne 'announced] that the Minister of Defence, -Sir Neville House, who is accompanying the R,t. Hon. S. M. Bruce to the Imperial Conference, left by the Mooltan. Mr. Bruqe joins the steamer at Adelaide on. Thursday. Mr J. Barclay, of Okaiawa, went to Wellington on .business this morning, and’ will return ait the end of the week.
Mr Ralph Hewitt, of Palmerston North, who is connected with the English firm, of .Lovell and Christmas, is at present staying at the Central Hotel, Hawera.
At a special function arranged for the purpose, Mr W. Thornhill was presented with a handsome bedroom clock by the members of the Eltham Football Club (states our own correspondent). Mr A. R. Gower, who made the presentation, referred to the great service Mr Thornhill had been to the club in assisting with the various balls which it had conducted.
Writing from Yorkshire .under date July 28, the Misses A. ftnd I. Exley, of Hawera, report that -they are .still having a delightful time in -this Old Country; the. one fault being the absence of sunshine. They intended leaving Yorkshire that week for Scotland, where thleiv would- meet the Misses Johnson and Batten, leaving on August 21 for a fortnight’s tour .in Switzerland.
