While generally in the world of stock there is not much change to noport, the, tone all round is good, andindications are for a continued; improvement. There -is a fairly confidenttone in the rhsirket. The principal feature is, the, strong demand, for heifers close to calving, or just- calved, and good prices are quoted. There is, too,still a demand for dairy ■stock of the right quality, and recent sales show excellent returns to vendors. It is fc very good .sign. The favourable opening of the season is, no doubt, responsible. Fat stock, too, have advanced, and the position is very strong. This was .suggested in this column isome considerable time ago as likely to happen. Tlie future operations* will be watolled with interest. Little is doing in .shee.p, hut prices q.r.p still satisfactory. Dairy farmer® have read with interest the first statement by the Control Board .in regard to pay-out. Cheese- at 7-Id means a. pay-out of about Is 3d, and this is about what has been ruling- It will serve to create, a feeling of steadiness, and the Home markets, though, quiet, are steady, and will also have a. useful influence. The position contains many optimisticfeatures. and .seems to indicate that it will he satisfactory, provided no extraneon® influences come on to upset, affairs at Home, such rs happened" last rear.
