A SHOPLIFTER. DEALT WITH

Mary Lila Thomas, a. married woman, wa,s charged at the police court with the theft of Aspr-os- valued at Is 6d and three boxes of powder valued at 12s from two city shops. The accused was detected misappropriating the Aspros, and when searched she was found to he in possession of powder t a leery from another shop. Counsel for "the accused said that her husband was a tine, respectable, hardworking man, who stated that his wife had been a most estimable woman, except for taking drink occasionally. He was sure his wife had not been systematically thieving. Mr. Hunt, S.M., said that these women had had ample warning. Only a few days ago a woman got fourteen _/days for shoplifting. The accused ■ would "be fined £5, or in default fourteen days’ imprisonment, on the* first charge, and admitted to probation for twelve months on the second charge. A prohibition order would also be issued
