The House met at 2.30 to-day. The Hon. O. J. Hawkcn, Minister of Agriculture, gave notice of his intention to introduce a Noxious Weeds Amendment Bill and a Forests Amendment Bill. Replying to the Leader of the Opposition, Air H. E. Holland, the Prime Alinister said he could not guarantee that decisions of Parliamentary committees with regard to public petitions would be -'dealt with before he left for England. The Government had to make very thorough investigation into these matters and it was necessarily a somewhat -tedious process. Replying to Air Veitch, the Prime Minister said he aauis .informed by tho Dairy Control Board that satisfactory arrangements had been made in London with regard to letters of credit for New Zealand dairy companies for the next twelve months.

An amendment in the Public Hospitals Amendment Bill, bringing tlie measure into operation on January I, 1927, instead of v April 1, 1927, AVas brought doAA r n by Governor-General’s message and Avas agreed to. The House rose at 12.55 a.m. till 10.30 a.m. to-day. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

WELLINGTON, Aug. 27. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. to-day. The Council agreed with the amendments proposed by the House of Representatives in the Oil in Territorial Waters Act, Government Railways Act, and the National Provident Fund Act-

The Veterinary Surgeons Bil, Lights on Vehicles Amendment Bill, Land Laws Amendment Bill, and the Local Elections and Polls Amendment Bill were received from the House of Representatives and read a first time.

The University Amendment Bill was reported from the Statutes Revision Committee without amendment. The Dairy Industry Amendment Bill, and the Mining Bill, Avere put through their final stages and passed without amendment.

In committee on the Local Government Loans Board Bill, Sir Heaton Rhodes introduced certain amendments, the chief of which provides that in the event of the board declining to sanction an application of a local authority to borrow, the application ibay not be renewed within a period of twelve months unless in tlie meantime there has been a material change of the circumstances affecting the loan proposals. The Bill as amended was passed, and the Council rose at 3.30 until Tuesday.
