A NOVEL TOY.

A little tank that will ready travel along by itself can be made from a large empty cotton reel, an elastic ring, a small piece of candle, and a piece of wood. The edges of each end of the reel must be cut into fairly deep notches. From a piece of candle about half an insli long the wick is removed, and the hole thus left is made .slightly larger. The candle is placed over the hole at one end of the reel, and the elastic l ing is threaded double through the hole in the candle and the hole in the reel . At one end a nail or a. pin is slipped through the ring to prevent it s ipping inside, and at the other end a small piece of wood, about four inches long, is threaded to form a handle or winding. To make the tank travel, wind the wooden handle round and "cnmd. Place the tank on a table, and it wil] not only travel, but will climb over any low obstacles that may be in the way.
