HALL COMMITTEE. \ meeting of the Riverlea Hall Committee was held on Friday evening last, when there were present: Ale- sis IV E. Hev (chairman), J. Gibson, J? . Schmidt, and M. E. Vou-llaire (secre- ] t was resolved to hold a final dance for the season on Thursday, September! •> and to engage Boulton’s music. Admission prices were fixed at : Gents 3s and ladies 2s, and it was resolved to add novelty dances to the programme. Messrs Gibson and Schmidt were appointed M’s.C. and Alessrs Symes and Youllaire doorkeepers. The work of erecting the screening box for the pictures ivas discussed, and it was decided to accept Air Hooper s offer to do the work. GENERAL. -piie factory reverted from skimming to cheesemaking on Saturday last, and for the first day 20 cheeses were made, and on Monday 22. Tests on! the 20th ranged from 3.4 to 4.5. For the firs time for many years, the Riverlea branch of the Kaponga company is making coloured cheese instead ol white. . . r ph e . cows are coming m very rapid ty. and cans are increasing daily in the carts. Owing to the excellent winter, cattle- generally are in good condition and. bar accidents and a September like last year’s, a‘ good season sliould ensue. Some people have the “wind up" over the Control Board, and should things in England: continue as tliev are and cause prices to keep down or go lower it’s a sure thing the hoard will get the blame. < Whilst the opponents of control may have, sonic grounds for their arguments ,there is no doubt some of them are inclined rather to make an exhibition of themselves and say things which one would not expect from them. That only alienates sympathy. It is to be hoped that the anti-con Hollers will do their best to assist- the board-, seeing that- Parliament has decreed that control shall come, and not try to throw spanners into the machinery. Mr .Tim Malone is having extensive alterations and additions made to his residence, and it appears that Jim intends shortly deserting the _ bachelor state and mining the benedicts. He wiff be a welcome addition to the order.
