FOUNDATION IN ANTIPODES AN AUSTRALIAN SCHEME. BF CABLE--PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received 10.10 a.m. to-day. SYDNEY, Aug. 20. A convention of medical men representing all the States of the Commonwealth and New Zealand is at present, meeting in Sydney to consider a, scheme for the establishment of an Aiistiiala.skiiL College of Surgeons, which will advance the study of .science and the art of surgery, will establish laboratories, journals ami elevate the practice of surgery in hospitals land in private practice. The present convention will arrange details In readiness for the Australasian Medical Congress, which meets at Dunedin next, year, and which will inaugurate the college. The convention selected from 120 volunteers, 40 men will be asked to found the college. All are prominent surgeons in Australia and New Zealand. At present four colleges of surgeons exist, the Royal Colleges of England, Edinburgh, Ireland, and the American College. The propounders of the scheme to establish the fifth in the Antipodeshope that before long it will so clearly demonstrate its usefulness that >ai Royal charter will be issued to it.
