SOUTH ISLAND PRODUCE
(Bl' TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) OHR.ISTCHUHCH. Aug. 20. The value of potatoes has touched practical ly the lowest point of the year. Coastal business has been done at C 5 f.o.b. sacks in for this month. The depressing influence is the quantity of tubers in stock at the ports, which is preventing northern operators coining on, the market. Just sufficient shipments have been going north to meet the demands, and with the knowledge of the accumulations at northern ports there is no incentive for the ordinary order business. The firmer tone in the oat market is maintained and 4s .‘kl and 4s f.o.b. sacks in for A and B (Cartons; respectively is available. An odd parcel or two of wheat has been picked up at Rs on trucks. Chaff is slow of sale at £5 10s on trucks to Go 15s for the best bright quality. The good feed season is restricting the inquiry. Seeds are ■net showing any improvement in demand.
