INQUEST opened. Air. A. El. Anderson (acting coroner) yesterday opened ia.ii inquest touching the death of Isabel! Alyrtle James, aged 1 year .and 11 months, which occurred at the Ivapoiiiga private hospital on Wednesday last, .as .a. result of scolds sustained by falling into a large' bowl of boiling water on Air. A. Fowler’s farm, near Opnnake. The following jury was empanelled:Messrs A. Melville (foreman), J. Charters, At. Henderson and J. El. Hey. Constable J. O’Donoghne represented the police.
All - . Ambrose Fowler, farmer, of Iliaia Hoad, Opunake, gave formal evidence of identification.
The inquiry Anas adjourned to Friday, August 27, at 11.30 a.m. Mr. N. Hi,slop, general manager for the Ka.po.nga Hairy Company, has ireturned from Auckland, in Avhich city he spent his annual holiday. •Mr. A. G. Cutter, A\'ell-knoAvn here through his association Avith the McLeod process of the treatment of Aviliey at cheese factories, has, returned after a lengthy holiday spent in the Waikato district.
A reminder is given of the dance to be held in the Town Holt on Thursday next ,in aid of the school funds. For those avlio do not cure to dance, but wish to contribute to the laudable object of the function, larnamgements have been made for holding a, euchre tournament, for Avhicli four good prizes are offered. Dancing Avil 1 commence at 8 p.m., and Avill in no AV-ay interfere Avith the progress of the tournament. A first-class orchestra lias been engaged land ;a good floor, a bounteous supper, and an enjoyable eA'ening’is entertainment are assured.
