MANAIA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Manaia branch of the W.C.T.U. held its monthly meeting in the Methodist- Church on Tuesdaf afternoon, Mrs. Scott presiding. There was a good attendance, and three visitors, including Miss Bates, the Alliance organiser, who spoke on Band fo Hope and L.T.L. work. It was decided to begin collecting for the 'annual donation to the Willard Home and W.C.T.U. orphanage. Members are requested to forward donations to next meeting on Septemebr 14 Mrs. Bennett tendered her resignation as vice-president, owing to other claims upon her time, and it was received with regret. It was arranged to send telegrams to the Hon. Mr. Hawken, from the fifty members of the branch and all sympathisers who could be approached in time, urging him to support the Bill for the elimination of the third issue. Three names of new members, and seventeen for the cradle roll, were handed in. Mrs. Fendall served afternoon tea at the conclusion of the meeting.
