ALARM IN ENGLAND
\ OVER EARTHQUAKE.
MINOR DAMAGE DONE “END OE THE WORLD!” BY CABLE —PBE3S ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. LONDON, Aug. 15. An earthquake shock in England early this morning wa.s the most wide--spread of recent- times. It extended from Cardiff to Peterborough, -and from Bath to- Derby. There- was only a slight -shock in London. In the most extreme eases beds moved and the -sleepers were t-lu’owii on the floor. Furniture and crockery rattled and ceilings cracked. The ’quake was accom.pan.ie-d by a loucl -rumbling noise. In, one village a- man caused excitement by rushing through the street n.ml shouting: ‘‘The end of the wood is coming.”
