Hobbs emphatically denies that he said anything about Carr’s resignation beyond declining to express his own personal view upon a matter of public importance. “In my opinion,” he says, “Carr’s resignation is far too delicate’ a. matter for me to talk about.” —A. and N.Z. Middlesex, in their first innings, made 416 for eight wickets declared (Hondren 199), against Surrey, which in the first innings made 357 for seven wickets (Hobbs not out 176). The match was abandoned. _ . Sussex, in their first innings, made 323 (A. E, Gilligan 126, A. H. GYligan 66). Freeman, took five wickets far 69 runs). In the second they made 284 for eight wickets, declared (Tate 73, Cook not out 100). Freeman took five wickets for 117. Kent, in their first innings, made 215 (Woolley 104, and Tate taking six wickets for 65). In the second innings they made 198 (Freeman not out 51, Tate taking five wickets for 59). Sussex won by 196 runs. Playing for Northants against Essex, Walden made 108 not out, and Jupp took six wickets for 55 runs. The match was drawn. For Worcester against Somerset, W’S ::m took eight for 81. The match was abandoned. For Notts against Derby, Payton made 133 and “Larwood took five for 44. The match was abandoned. For Yorkshire against Warwick, Ley-land made- 109. The match wa-s abandoned. For Lancashire against Glamorgan, Macdonald took _ five wickets for 68. Tykfedoy three for 16, and AVats&n four for 14. For Glamorgan, Mercer took five wickets for 56 nuis. Lancashire- won.
For Hampshire against Leicester, Astill took five wickets for 80. The match was abandoned.
