STRATFORD RACING CLUB.

ANNUAL GENERAL- MEETING. SATISFACTORY PERIOD REPORTED. 'The annual general meeting, of the Stratford- Racing CHub was held last evening, when the retiring president, Mr. S-. Pitt, presided over a- good attendance- of members. The annual report was. as given below. In formally moving its adoption, together with the balance-sheet, the chairman congratulated members upon the sound- financial position. The past year wa,s most- successful, the annual -race meeting showing increased receipts from all sources. The sum of £3BOO was given in stakes, and entrance fees increased by £203 on the previous meeting. The profits on the rape meeting, -account amounted to £3151 6s lOd, after paying Governmenttaxation amounting to £4235 13s 3d. The sum of £361 12s 9d had been written off the assets by way of depreciation, -and the net -profit carried to capital -account was £1863 17s Id. The operations of the -farm asdisclosed in the stock account, showed a profit of £lB2- 16s 3d. The .sum ol £952 3s 5d had been expended in new course improvements, which marked the completion of the new race -track, the cost of which now stood at £9200 12s 6d, the whole of which had -been derived from revenue. The erection of new buildings had had full consideration, and as a result a contract had been 'let and the work was now in progress: of building a- practically new stewards’ stand, judge’s box and lavatory accommodation for both inside and outside patrons, and "these additions, costing approximately £4OOO, should be greatly appreciated- both by members and the general public. Additional trunstiles had been installed to cope with the continued increasing -attendances. Three -acres of land adjoining the club’s property had been purchased from- various owners, the greater portion of this being in native bush, which would be preserved lor scenic purposes. The whole or the club’s -property had been kept in good order under the- supervision of the caretaker, Mr. It. Lloyd. The committee desired, to cordially thank all stewards and honorary officials for services rendered during the race meeting. The motion lor -adoption was seconded by Mr. H. E. Abraham, and was carried after general satisfaction had been expressed by several members. The following officers were declared elected without a ballot being nece:?sary: President, Mr. S. Pitt; vicepresident, Mr. H. E. Abraham, 'members’ representative on the .general committee, Mr A. -Stewart; auditor', Mr T. H. Penn. The privileges granted to members during the past year was confirmed. Votes of thanks- were passed to the club’s representatives on the district committee (Messrs Pitt and Malone), to the Press, the Railway Department , and the Public Works Department, for the way they met the club in the matter of train arrangements. .
