The Department of the Interior announces that Catholic Church annexes, except- actual plaese of worship, and all eliurcli valuables have been placed under the l Government seal throughout Mexico until the controversy is settled. The persons arrested on charges 1 of plotting against the life of President Calles were discharged for lack of evidence. The British; Minister, Mr Ovev, .declined. to- discuss, and refused to confirm or deny thei reports that he: has made diplomatic representations to Mexico over the British-Mexican treaty of amity in commerce and guaranteeing religious; ministers freedom to exercise their ministry in Mexico. The treaty expires in December. Mexico, months ago., said she would not renew it. It is unofficially understood that discussions between the two Governments over the renewing will probably be undertaken in London between the Foreign Office and the Mexican Minister.
