DIED THROUGH KICK FROM HORSE. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION. 1 BLENHEIM, Aug. 10. J. T. Murphy, a well-known stockman of Marlborough, died this morning as the result of a kick from a horse he was stabling. WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED. AUCKLAND, Aug. 10. Mrs. Elizabeth Craig, of Motnapu, fell from a tram-car while it was rounding a bend she was dragged for some distance by a motor car and sustained severe injuries to her head and body. Her condition is serious. UNEMPLOYMENT AT CHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 10. Men to the number of 294 were registered as unemployed in Christchurch this week, the highest yet recorded.
AfISSIOXARV CENTENARY
AUCKLAND, Aug. 10. After attending the centenary celebration® of the landing of the first Wesleyan missionaries -at Tonga, the Rev. Mr Sinclair, general -secretary of the Wesleyan Foreign Alisisions, returned by the Tofua last night. The foundation stone of a new church to cost £15,000 was laid, and a memorial to the 1 first- missionaries Was unveiled by Queen Charlotte.
